Evolver is an easy to use online 3D avatar builder available at www.evolver.com!

First off, for those who don't know me, I am not by any stretch of the imagination computer savvy, or a techie.
Like most middle aged people, I am a user. I turn it on, I surf the web, I retrieve e-mail and shop for deals on ebay and such. Normally when my computer doesn't do what I want I get one of the kids to do it for me and when that fails I call Zeke, he laughs, and patiently steps me through whatever I have screwed up.
So when I wanted to create my own avatar (defined as a picture representation of someone on the internet) I didn't have a clue about how to go about it especially considering that until about a month ago I never knew what an avatar was. Basically it is an online virtual representation of how you would like people to see you.
Most recently it is apparently a great sci-fi movie blockbuster that I have yet to enjoy.
Ok so on to Google and I searched for "online avatar builder" which led me www.evolver.com. This site allows you to build your own custom avatar by cloning an image of yourself or by choosing one from their extensive gallery of images.

I had my wife take a digital picture of me which I then downloaded from the camera to the desktop of my computer (so I would know where to find it when needed).
Basically this image becomes the raw data that you will use as the basis for your clone/avatar.
I then followed the step by step instructions on the www.evolver.com site which allows you to adjust/enhance your natural good looks with skin tones, eye colours, makeup, body types and clothing to name but a few of the possible combinations that will make up your final avatar.
I found several things about this particular site quite cool:
-You can save your project at any stage then continue with modifications and resave as new so you can have multiple completed avatars with different attributes.
-You can send your avatar to your friends and they can play with it.
-You can post your completed project on their site and offer it up for sale or usage and get paid for it.
-You can add various types of animation to your avatar
-You can transport your personalized custom avatar to your other online activities like social networking(ie facebook} and especially cool is that you can use it for your online gaming persona (not quite sure how to do this).
I am quite pleased with my results and will use this site again to update my profile with a new "me" after I play around with it some more.
I believe that Zeke is going to tune up or add to this article when he can but in the meantime check it out. I'm looking forward to seeing new Avatars of my friends in the near future.
