If you’re anything like me, your computer Desktop is likely a complete and utter mess of icons, files, folders and icons. What can I say? Working on several projects simultaneously and downloading new software daily for review, the Desktop seems a logical place to store things temporarily for quick and easy access. On the other hand, it doesn’t take long before it grows difficult to distinguish program shortcuts from installation files and documents.
Point in fact, I cleaned up my Desktop about 10 days ago and after fixing a couple of laptops, performing file recovery on a drive, testing a few utilities and writing 3 or 4 articles, I’m due for another clean up. Wouldn’t it be great if there were an easy way to keep shortcuts, icons, files and folders organized.
That’s where Fences comes in. Fences is a free desktop management tool from Stardock that makes organizing our desktop child’s play. Start by downloading Fences here: Download Fences and clicking on the “Free Download” button.
Once downloaded, double click the installation file to launch.
Click “Next”…
Check of the License agreement and click “Next”…
Click “Next”…
… “Next” again…
…and again…
