Styles are predefined or user defined text document formats. They provide a quick and painless way to lend your documents a professional look while saving you time.
Predefined styles can be found on your ribbon menu from the "Home" tab.
MS Word 2007 includes 11 predefined paragraph styles to apply quick formats such as (1) Title, (2) Emphasis or (3) Quotes.

We can also choose styles to match the tone of our document. Among the available style sets, we find options such as Elegant, Formal, Fancy and simple. To change the style set, click the (1) Change Styles button and from the "Style Set" submenu, choose one of the available (2)sets.
To create your own style, first apply your own paragraph formatting (see: MS Word 2007 – Paragraph formatting). Once done, click the (1)"More" button and from the bottom of the list, click (2) Save Selection as a New Quick Style…

In the popup window, simply type in a name for your New Quick Style and click "OK".

Your New Quick Style is added to your styles menu.

To apply paragraph quick styles, simply click once in the paragraph you wish to format and click on the appropriate quick style option from the ribbon menu.
