If you're working like a madman trying to eke a few dollars out of your website or blog, maybe it's time you tried something different! Affiliate Marketing may be the missing piece in your online revenue puzzle.
Of course, as with any potential online revenue stream, there is a right way to do it – and a wrong way. I used to do it the wrong way. Not to say I never made any money through affiliate marketing, because, in fact, my first month promoting software netted me more than I'd earned through Adsense Pay Per Click advertising in the 3 months prior. In retrospect, however, it was still chump change.
Affiliate Marketing – The Wrong Way
But the problem wasn't with the products I was promoting or with Affiliate Marketing in general, it was simply because I was fumbling my way through it. I didn't really understand what I was doing or why it was, or wasn't, working. In fact, I'll admit I was quite pleased with myself and the few hundred dollars I'd earned until, all of a sudden, it simply stopped. I thought for sure I was on the fast track to earning online but then, without warning, the sales just dried up.
I attempted to jumpstart the system again, trying different products, different promotions and tactics to no effect. I was stumped. So I simply shelved Affiliate Marketing and went back to my good old Adsense PPC. Of course, that wasn't performing nearly as well as that short lived affiliate campaign and after only a few months, discouraged by the paltry earnings, I decided to revisit Affiliate Marketing.
Becoming A Super Affiliate Requires A Plan
Only this time, I wasn't about to go in blind. So I started reading up on the subject, visiting "expert" blogs, forums and the like. But it was hard to tell the bullshitters from the true authorities and finding one cohesive resource, with clear and simple explanations and guides, was simply impossible. My next stop was Amazon. I figured nobody would get published without having some credentials under their belt. As it turns out, I spent over $300 to buy and read 9 of the top rated books on affiliate marketing. And while all of them were written by credible and authoritative "experts" on the subject, only one book really laid it all out for me.
Super Affiliate Handbook by Rosalind Gardner
When I first saw Rosalind's book – Super Affiliate Handbook – the caption "How I Made $436,797 In One year Selling Other People's Stuff Online" really smacked of infomercial cheesiness. Thankfully, in this rare instance, I didn't judge the book by its cover. After the first few chapters, it was clear I'd finally found a reliable and comprehensive guide through the maze of affiliate marketing. Rosalind, I've learned, has been making big money from affiliate marketing since the early 1990's. She is considered one of the first and foremost experts on the subject and, from reading her book, it's plain to see why.
The book is methodical in its approach without being dry, obscure or pedantic. Rosalind manages to fill her book with tons of useful resources and information and details her entire system in language that is easy to grasp. Furthermore, she outlines her approach, tools and process so clearly that once you've flipped the last page, you are equipped to dive into affiliate marketing and start making real money right away. Her Super Affiliate Handbook cost me about $45, which I made back within the first 48 hours of implementing what I'd learned.
If you are tired of making pennies from Adsense and have been considering Affiliate Marketing, do yourself a favor and check out Rosalind's site. Along with her book, you'll find tons of useful articles, tips and resources to help you get started – the right way!
