If you find the Joomla Core Related Articles plugin lacking and are looking for a better way to display Related Articles at the bottom of your Joomla articles without adding a lot of overhead, I would highly recommend eRelated News from E-Content.
This free plugin is exceptionally well coded and stable and offers tons of configuration options. You can use it to auto generate tags, meta descriptions and keywords and display results by date, alphabet, ID, keywords or random.
The tooltips function can also be configured to display a clean, html or Image and text preview of listed articles when users hover over the title. This is what the “Image with text” option looks like:
The plugin generates an elegant footer with tags (if enabled) and Related Articles separated by horizontal rules and while it does display a link back to www.econtentsite.com (the plugin creator), unlike many other free Joomla extensions, it is quite small and unobtrusive.
