In this quick tutorial, we will show you how to download movies or videos for free from Youtube using Mediaconverter.org. The same process applies if you wish to convert and download videos from Facebook, blip.tv, metacafe, dailymotion or veoh using the free Mediaconverter.org service. The first step in the process is we need the URL(internet address) for the video you would like to download. Select and copy the entire address in the address bar at the top of your browser.
You can quickly select the entire YouTube video link in the address bar by pressing the F6 key and pressing Ctrl+C to copy. Alternatively, once selected, right-click and select copy form the contextual menu.
Next, we make our way to MediaConverter.org (http://mediaconverter.org). Mediaconverter.org is a free video and audio conversion service that allows you to download movies, videos or extract audio from videos for free. You can do this directly from the open browser page or by pressing Ctrl+T to open a new blank browsing Tab.
Once there, click once on the Chain (enter a link) button.
In the "Please enter the link to the video or audio track." field, right-click and select "Paste" or use Ctrl+V to paste your video link and press the "OK" button.
This brings you back to the mediaconverter.org conversion wizard main screen. You can add up to 5 links for download or conversion per day using the free service. To add more links, simply repeat the previous steps. Once you are done, click the "go to the next step" button.
On the next screen, you can select which format you wish to use. There are 13 supported video formats and 4 audio formats. If you want the video, select the file format that is compatible with your software or device. For example, AVI and WMV will work on any Windows PC while 3gp/3g2 is supported by many handhelds and phones. If you don't need the video but would like to extract the audio file from it, selecting one of the 4 audio formats will do just that. Once you've selected your desired format, click the "OK" button.
On the next screen, click "Start" to begin your download and conversion.
The process can take several minutes to complete depending on the number and size of the files, output formats and your Internet bandwidth.
If you receive a message stating that some file conversions have failed, generally it is a timeout or server connection issue. Simply go back and try again. Eventually your download and conversion will be successful.
Once the conversion has completed, click the "Download" link on the right hand side in the bottom pane to download and save to your computer or device.
